    Kapok tree

    The fruits of the kapok tree contain a kind of white fluff, also known as kapok.
    In Guadeloupe, unlike in other regions and countries, the kapok tree has a very mysterious aspect that has made it the theme of superstitious beliefs. Many legends are associated with it, involving "soucougnans" (vampires) and ghosts. The tree is also linked to the period of slavery, since uncooperative slaves were hanged from the branches.

Description

Follow the path behind the panel introducing the trail.
Take the 2nd on the right, following the Hiking ("Rando") symbol.
Turn right, and you will arrive at the viewpoint over the Petit Cul de Sac; follow the curve and the slight descent (building on the right).
Then turn right alongside the mangrove forest. Turn left. At the summit, turn right.
At the intersection, continue straight ahead. After the descent, at the intersection, turn right.
Go straight ahead until you return to your starting point.

Take the N1 road towards Petit-Bourg. Take the exit D31. Pass the bridge and take the D33. Turn left onto Rue du Lycée. Take the 3rd exit at the roundabout.
Park near the Pointe à Bacchus sign.
